- How much equity you have
- Your likely moving costs
- What suitable homes are selling for locally
- How much your planned improvements would cost
Once you have real numbers in front of you, the decision often becomes much clearer.
Think About the Next Five Years, Not Just Today
A renovation might solve today's problem, but will it still work in a few years?
If you're planning to grow your family, work from home permanently or simply know you'll eventually want considerably more space, think beyond the immediate issue.
Likewise, if you love your location and can realistically adapt the property to suit your future needs, improving could allow you to stay somewhere you're already happy.
The right decision isn't simply about which option costs less today.
